ABC Art Trail - Notts Open Studios, my first time in taking part with our local art trail and I am so glad that I did. I met many lovely, kind and generous people, who made me feel rather humbled about my work. Those who did come along a huge Thank YOU!!
As artists we just like to create and go into that 'zone' for a period of time - many of us are self critical of our own work, I for one, believe it is good to have an element of self criticism because in many respects, doing so, keep you on your toes in an aim to continually produce better work, not to become complacent. The world and art is there to be explored, by both desire and accident. My next step? To add a few pieces of work to the University of Nottingham Lakeside Exhibition - it's just a matter of choosing the right pieces, I almost think my 'Sacrifice' print would work well... it's local to the university park grounds and it's also implying that nature needs help.. Interestingly, a very lovely woman who talked to me about this particular image understood it immediately, at least from where my eyes and thoughts had been... 'Like a crucifixion' she told me.. 'Absolutely' I agreed. Interesting how we all see things in different ways, this is the beauty of listening to people's view about art - how the viewer responds to the art - it's all very personal but at the same time interesting, that is what makes us all so unique, interesting and wonderful in so many ways!
