Global Sistaz United  Project
Global Village Exhibition

Picture

I was the chosen photographer for the Global Sistaz United Project with Backlit Gallery 2019 to document the women's daily rituals, memories, differences. Through discussion with the group, we originally wanted to create a series of still life images of objects that reminded them of their homelands. However, as the project evolved, it was clear that the women wanted to be portrayed as subject in the photographs and in traditional clothing. We created portraiture and Still Life.
The following images are a series of images taken over a period of 4 weeks - February through to March. The women come from Malawi, Eritrea, Nigeria, Sudan. GSU are a self help group of women asylum seekers, refugees, vulnerable women in Nottingham
