What a truly wonderful day yesterday photographing Tim for his art project. Although our change of plan meant I scrapped my original photography ideas, I had a good amount of time on the train to make some last minute sketches and notes about how I would direct and photograph Tim.
I t was very insightful listening to Tim's experience of Parkinson's Disease and how he has turned this into making positive actions occur through his art project. In many ways, this undoubtedly informed how I wanted the shoot to work.. I wanted to use the idea of Metamorphosis and Rebirth.. rather than focussing on dis-ease, I wanted to portray the metamorphosis of Tim's new creative life..We spent a good hour and half on a small beach near Brighton but I was aware that the sea wasn't very warm and didn't want Tim to get too cold.. We managed to capture some shots that I am more than happy with and hopefully we will do some more shoots in the future. Tim also had time to show me some films he has made, brilliantly good and funny - a talented film maker for sure. I was also impressed by his wife's art work - a very talented artist whose work is the style of art that I really do love.. Maybe one day I might get to purchase a painting from her.. http://www.janeandrews.co.uk/ A week now to reflect, sift through the photos, edit a little and send forward to Tim towards choosing one for his art project. A very special time indeed and very touched to be able to have been involved with one man's creative vision and rebirth.
